Drop A Line – Jessie G Debut CD

Country Showdown Alumni Produces CD with Gretchen Wilson

One thing we know about breaking into the industry is each person’s story is unique. Imagine opening up for one of your favorite Country artists and striking up a conversation that leads to co-writing and producing your debut CD! That is how Jessie G gained the attention of Gretchen Wilson and it’s been an exciting journey ever since.

After her success with a Battle Of the Bands competition in Portland Oregon, Jessie was given the opportunity to open for one of her biggest musical influences. An introduction by the local radio station lead to an all night jam between Jessie, her family and Gretchen. Gretchen offered her support with Jessie’s career and it wasn’t long after that Jessie took the leap of faith and moved to Nashville to begin working on her career. She quickly gained the attention of fans across the country through a successful crowdfunding campaign of her album. She’s been traveling the country while her single “Drop A Line” gains traction on Country Radio and music row charts.

[column_content type=”one_half”] Jessie grew up in the coastal town of Brookings Oregon where she and her family run a fishing operation. Her debut single, “Drop A Line” infuses her passion for country music with her upbringing. She attributes her individual sound and songwriting abilities with the jazz, blues and musical theory influences she received while attending college. While her education shaped her ability and her craft of songwriting, her heart remained in Country music.

When we asked why she choose country music over the jazz or blues she studied in college she said:
Country music is about life and experiences and is most relatable, it chose me.

Jessie shares her Country Showdown Experience

I was a late bloomer when it came to the Country Showdown. A friend of mine that worked at a country station convinced me to try out when I was 18 years old, a freshman in college. I was reluctant to try out because I felt like I was “over” doing talent competitions. When I looked more into it I realized that the Country Showdown not only offered opportunities for young aspiring musicians on a national level, but they also encouraged original songwriting in the competition. In my opinion, that makes this organization the best talent search out there. They offer so many opportunities, they encourage artist to be original and find their own sound, and they offer such a warm and welcoming networking community. I walked away from the Country Showdown with dozens of friends that I still keep in touch with. I continue to collaborate and play gigs with friends I met in the competition! Competing in the Country Showdown changed my life and had a huge influence on me continuing on this path of being a Country Music Artist. They continue to support all of us artists and I will always support them! Thank you, Country Showdown for being a huge part of my musical journey.
